"Brush" Your Golf Pitches to Keep Them Close

Do you have difficulty hitting crisp pitch shots that stop close enough for a realistic one-putt? If not, and you routinely take a divot behind the ball, or you try to pick them clean, this can help you. Hitting behind the ball puts too much grass between it and the clubface, while picking it cleanly produces a lower trajectory off the bottom edge of your wedge with little or no backspin.

The next time you practice try my "brush the grass" drill. Before you hit your first shot, make at least 20 pitch swings without a ball and look at your divot after every one. Make sure your wedge smacks the ground on each attempt, but doesn't dig into it. If you think about "brushing"the grass, you'll feel your wedge kiss off the ground at the bottom of each swing. In 4 to 20 tries, you should be able to o make your divot look like the grass is brushed (scuffed) but no dirt is taken from the ground.

After you complete the drill, continue to practice your pitches, making a good "brush" practice swing before you hit each shot, until the real shot leaves only the same kind of brushed-grass divot. When you do this correctly, you'll see crisp ball contact on or about the third or fourth groove up the face of your wedge, a nice amount of backspin and makeable putts.

Take it to the course: When you're in a pitch situation on the course, call up the brushed-grass image and lay your wedge clubface slightly open so the sole bounce can brush the ground. Then, make three practice "brush" swings. Make sure your grip is light and relaxed (but not floppy loose). If the leading edge of your wedge keeps taking dirt divots, open the face a little more. When you've successfully "brushed" the grass two consecutive times without a divot, move in and immediately pitch the ball onto the green with the same swing.

World Cup Soccer: Football That Unites The World

In every sporting event one can invariably find a player, a team, a nation, poised to become the next memorable story – a story that will survive the test of time and go down in history. The FIFA World Cup is unique, in that, every country can qualify. It is the only tournament that can unite the world with its common passion for the sport. It is a tournament where everyone celebrates, dances, and rejoices in the streets of their capitals, exulting in the spectacular feats of their players, their teams and their nation.

But what makes the World Cup particularly extraordinary is the national pride that it inspires, especially for the first time qualifiers. Since the first tentative World Cup in Uruguay in 1930, World Cup history was not only about the winner or winning the title, but about the stories. World Cup history resonates with the back-stories that echo through time - of players, teams and nations that surprised the world by achieving the unexpected. From the poignant moments of the underdogs and the worlds Cinderella teams, to the birth of legends and the brilliance of the football giants – the World Cup brings joy to every nation. It is about the stories of players, teams and nations taking it to the highest levels; the stories about emotions and pride that unites the world.

At 2006 FIFA World Cup, we welcome the heavy favorites - from the European continent and all the way to the South American continent. For these giants, winning is everything. In their spirit is held the promise of thrilling showdowns, individual feats of brilliance and the majestic harmony in motion of a team united in its quest for the world’s most coveted prize in football. Will the European contenders - Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, France, and England have the firepower to overcome the South American power forces from Brazil and Argentina, or will the world be dancing to the samba beat again this year?

What about the other European contenders, the lesser known South American teams, or the North American and Central American zone teams? Or better yet, the Australians? Let’s not overlook the African continent! Will the trophy finally make its first trip south of the Mediterranean Sea? For that matter, even the Asian continent and their desire to bring Asian football to new international acclaim should be considered.

At the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, we hope to see these underdogs, long shots, and Cinderella teams. There is always something special about the underdogs for winning is not everything to them. Simply by qualifying to walk onto the world stage, they have realized their goals and sparked the hopes of their nation. Armed with this impossible hope, win or lose, they are there to defend their national pride, and valiantly defend it they will, sometimes to the very chagrin and amazement of disbelieving onlookers.

Mexico offers some of the worlds best place to pay golf along with doing other tourist attractions. The most favorite part of the Mexico golf destination is the Mexican Baja California. It is a dream come true and a vacations paradise for the golfing enthusiasts.

It is house to some of the finest golf course and beaches. These beaches are made up crystal clear azure water, sugar white sands and those warm breezes across the ocean.

Baja in Mexico was the biggest sea fishing destination in the Mexico in the 1950 era. Then a little later some of the most exclusive lodges were beginning to appear in the area of Cabo San Lucas and the San Jose del Cabo. There is a 20 mile road which connects these. The howl area is known as Los Cabos.

Through there has been constant growth in this area and it became a great golfing destination of the world the best part is that these area are still very beautiful with the Mexican government trying their best to achieve the fine balance between tourism and retaining the glory and the purity of the area. The area is now dotted by rocky coves, beautiful shiny beaches and the fish in clear blue waters.

The area of Cabo San Lucas is very tourist like with attractions in the form of bars, boutiques and spas. It has variety to offer which will appeal the most of the travelers going there for golf. However the other side of that 20 mile corridor is the San Jose Del Cabo which is authentic Mexican and is kind of slow paced. It has dusty streets and old buildings dotting the landscape. The most beautiful stretch is the 20 mile corridor which has the resorts of all kinds as well as the beaches for everyone.

The golf courses in Baja offer special courses designed Jack Nicklaus and Robert Trent Jones. One of the most famous ones that have been designed by Jack Nicklaus is the Cabo Del Sol. Some of the other ones are Palmilla, Cabo Real and the Cabo San Lucas Country club.

Arizona Cardinals - The Biggest Loser in NFL History

In their nine decades of playing football, the Arizona Cardinals have lost a total of 664 games, 57% of all the games they have played. Since 1947, they have won only one playoff game, and since 1984, had only one winning season. In 86 years, they have won over ten games five times compared to the Philadelphia Eagles, England Patriots, and Indianapolis Colts, which have all won over ten games, at least five times in the past seven years.

The Oldest American Football Club

The Cardinals is the oldest American football club, originally formed in 1989 and was then named the Morgan Athletic Club, based in Chicago. The team was then called the Racine Normals (because they were located in Chicago's Racine Avenue) and was later changed to the Racine Cardinals. It was then that they started wearing dark red uniforms which were taken from the football college team, the Chicago Maroons. It was in 1920 that the Cardinals officially became a member of the NFL and was renamed the Chicago Cardinals. During World War II, in 1944, the Cardinals merged temporarily with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and were thus referred to as the Card-Pitt team, just for one season. In 1960, the Cardinals then moved to St. Louis Missouri and became the St. Louis Cardinals. They earned the moniker "The Big Red" due to a series of success in the 1970s. After failing to acquire a stadium in St. Louis solely for football, the Cardinals moved to Phoenix in 1988 and were named the Phoenix Cardinals. By 1994, it was officially known as the Arizona Cardinals. Today, they are based in Glendale Arizona in the outskirts of Phoenix and are members of the National Football Conference, Western Division and the National Football League (NFL). In 2006, all home games of the Cardinals were played at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, instead of the Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe where they played at for 17 years.

No Super Bowl for the Cardinals

The Cardinals is one of six NFL teams who never made it to the Super Bowl including the Detroit Lions, the Cleveland Browns, the New Orleans Saints, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team's only NFL championship game was in 1947, two decades before the Super Bowl was instituted. The other championship was in 1925, eight easy before NFL held championship games. Since 1947, the Cardinals have qualified only five times for the playoffs and won only one playoff game, a poor record shared only by one other team, the Detroit Lions.

Cardinals' Big Turnaround

In recent years, however, the Cardinals is looking at a major overhaul and makeover with the son's owner Michael Bidwill taking over the team in lieu of his father, William V. Bidwill. Michael took over as president and has recently invested on a new stadium, a marketing staff, and a larger share of revenues. Just last year, 2007, the Cardinals saw an increase of 20% revenue, to $189 million. The team is not worth $888 million, a 13% increase from the year before. Today, they are attracting better players and spending on equipment and training.
